A day in the life

I started as a casual, while I was studying, and I just really enjoyed it and eventually moved into part time and then eventually became a Store Manager. And then from there, I’ve moved stores from a Liquorland to a First Choice. I’m now taking on more and more opportunities.
Managing rosters, stock auditing, managing the team, facing up the store, serving customers – most importantly and merchandising as well, which is extra important at a First Choice Liquor Market as it’s such a large store. It’s a challenge, but I really enjoy it.
Serving customers, it’s not just a quick in and out shop, they really come in to get some advice. I have a real passion for wine, in particular, and so I love to help them make their selections and provide any recommendations. And having the customer come back due to my service – really love making a difference.
The impact that I have on my team and the way we work together, and how I support their development through training and coaching and support. I’ve had a few team members, in particular females, who’ve now gone on to become managers and move stores and that’s something I’m really proud of, because their development is important to me, just like mine is.
Recently, I just went to Tasmania for a month to take part in the acquisition to help open 20 new stores, which was jus an amazing experience and something I never imagined that I would do.
Just didn’t realise how many pathways and opportunities there are in Coles Liquor Group. And for me, I’m so happy that I made the choice and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow and develop and make a difference in my profession.
A very simple word. Yes. Say yes. I said yes to the things I never thought I was dreaming of doing and it’s gotten to a place that I didn’t imagine, but I couldn’t see myself doing anything else now. So, if you’re thinking about it, I say go for it. You never know where it could lead you.
