Welcome to the decanting station where people like CJ unpacks stuff coming in.
CFC Team Member: Don’t forget the stuff the freezer chamber.
Sandy: Ahh we don’t have time for that. What CJ and Rob pack goes into the hive as 3D grid like systems that stores groceries ready for the tech to sort. Sorry Deniz, no time. It’s smart automation and it makes it even easier for people like Rob to get the job done. Ahhh.. here’s a closer look of the picking station.
Rob: Can I say hi to my son?
Sandy: Rob follows these instructions to pack customer orders. Once the tote is done it goes back into the hive.
Rob: Now?
Sandy: We’re at the loading bay and this is called a frame. It’s filled with customer orders. This is loaded onto the van ready for …
(roller doors slowly goes up)
This is loaded onto the van ready for the driver to start their shift in drive. Oh can I have a bite?
Shristee : I thought you didn’t have time?
Sandy: How good is this?

Video 1: Meet Thalia
My name is Thalia. My role is a Customer Delivery Driver, and I’ve been here for eight weeks.
I just wanted a new change-up, a new position. I’ve been a stay-at-home mother for a couple of years, so I just wanted to get back into the workforce, and I seen the opportunity come up.
So, I come in the mornings, I’ll have a coffee, we sit in the driver’s hub, and we look at our departure board, which tells us what van we’re in.
Our vans loaded and ready to go. Our routes all set, and off we go.
The requirements for this role is a car license and a good attitude.
My favorite thing about being on the road is seeing the sights and new areas.
My best thing about the job is the people, the customers, everything. I just love being here, I love feeling welcomed by everyone, and I love how grateful the customers are to receive their order: they come out the door with a big smile on their face.
My biggest surprise when I first started was the culture, the care, how they look after you as an individual. Everyone’s happy to see you, we care about each other, we have banter, we play games, a bit of pool, treat you with respect, and get to know you as a person.
Being a mum and juggling work can be tough, but thankfully Coles always support me.
If I have a rough night’s sleep or the kids have me up all night, they notice instantly and they always go above and beyond to make sure I’m happy and I’m comfortable. They always ask how you are and how you’re doing.
My favorite perk is doing my weekly groceries and getting a little bit of a discount on it, make it a bit easier for me at the end of the day. And, also, the physio, being able to come here and get some physio done after our long week is fantastic.
The biggest impact this role has done with me is my confidence in regards to driving in the city. It was a bit nerve wracking for me prior in my own personal vehicle.
Now that I’m in the van and I’m comfortable in the van, I could drive the city streets nearly with my eyes closed, even though I wouldn’t!
This role has had a massive impact on my life. It has changed my home life, work life, social life, I feel very confident. I’m not afraid of making phone calls anymore or navigating through tough city streets, and I feel like I’m a lot better when it comes to technology now.
If anyone’s thinking of joining Coles, I would tell them – just do it! It’s a great opportunity, you’ve got heaps of people that’ll help you, you get the training, all you need is a driver’s licence and you’re good to go.
Video 2: Meet Rob

I can’t wait for people to discover how we’re bring technology and people together to provide a fantastic service for our customers and amaze them with the freshness and range that’s going to come from our Coles CFCs.
Our culture at the CFC will be one that’s underpinned by teamwork and support and helps us to provide a great place to work for our team members where they can bring their true selves to works every day for Coles.
We’re looking to build a team at the CFC, which has a really positive impact on our local communities.

Video 3: Meet Deniz
My name is Deniz, I’m a Team Manager at the Coles CFC.
Something that I was really surprised to see once I joined the CFC team was everybody’s commitment to making Coles and the CFC a great place to work.
We’ve got so many opportunities. We’ve really got a role for everyone. Whether your passions being a baker, picking, packing orders, or you want to drive around and deliver those orders to our customers, we’ve got something for you.
We’re looking for people to join the team who come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We’ve already got quite a diverse team here at the CFC and we’re looking to expand on that. So no matter your experience or what you’re passionate about, we’d love to have you on board.
I can’t wait for people to discover the technology that we have here at the CFC. It really is one of a kind in Australia, and what it helps us to achieve is such a shorter time frame of delivering the customer orders to their homes. And when we work together as a team with the multiple departments within the site, we can really build a strong community of great customer service.
Best thing about working here I’d say is the people that I work with. Everybody really makes it a great place to come into work every day and have an interaction, no matter how long or short it is. You really feel at home here.
A piece of advice I’ll give somebody who is thinking about joining the CFC is to just apply and come join the team. See for yourself what a great culture that we have here. The operation that we’re running and the scale of what we’re achieving with our customer delivery.
