Video 1: A day in the life of a Liquorland Store Manager
Craig: My name's Craig. I've been with Liquorland for two and a half years and I'm the Store Manager at middle Camberwell.
Dhaval: I'm Dhaval, Store Manager for Coles Liquor. We’ve worked at the business for more than 13 years.
Craig: A typical day for me is basically opening a store, service of customers, coordinating rosters.
Dhaval: Getting the store ready for the trade as well as planning for the deliveries, coordinating with the team members incoming, helping customers throughout the day. Every day is different. That's what I like. New challenges, and you overcome that and take a pride in your work.
Craig: Biggest surprise for me is the flexibility that they’re able to provide me with my daughters playing sport on weekends. So they’re able to provide me Sundays off so that I could enjoy that family time. And that really was fantastic to see.
Dhaval: Support is numerous. You can talk to anyone. You can talk to your State Manager, even though you have emails handy for your Executive Directors. You can email them straight away, and they will give you a reply straight away as well.
Craig: Tim loves a call.
Dhaval: Yeah.
Craig: Loves a phone call.
Dhaval: Yeah.
Craig: Proudest moment working, yeah when you become Store Manager it was pretty daunting for my experience. I'd never ran a store before. So for me to come into a brand new sort of role at Liquorland was really exciting. I don't mind wine, beer, maybe everything. It could be I don't know about Dhaval but I enjoy it.
Dhaval: I’m pretty simple on that. One beer James Boag’s Premium Lager. I'm a beer drinker and I'll stick to that.
Craig: Fair enough.
Craig: A piece of advice I would give is get excited. For my first day of joining, I've never stopped learning. And I think if you're looking for a job where something's new and changing. And especially this time at Liquorland, there's a lot going on. And I think that the best advice I could give to them is to strap in and enjoy it because it's a great ride it's really good.
Dhaval: It's a great place to work, very flexible working arrangement. And if you love customer service this is a place for you.
Video 2: Day in the life of Store Manager at Vintage Cellars
Ronaldo: So, I'm Ronaldo, I'm the Store Manager here at Vintage Sellers Toorak.
Pete: I'm Pete and I'm the store manager of Vintage Cellars in Williamstown.
Ronaldo: So, a typical working day for me would probably start off with just getting the shop ready to go, a bit of admin in the morning and then moving into replenishment and just team progression as well. And then finishing up with the tasting with customers.
Pete: There isn't really such thing as a typical day for me. Some days you're a lot more focused on stock, working stock doing deliveries, doing orders. And other days during peak times Friday, Saturday you're just serving customers, really spending time with your regulars, and keeping the store looking fantastic.
Ronaldo: Yeah, so there's multiple ways I kind of see the impact of my work. The main one would be the kind of general happiness of customers as they walk into the store.
Pete: Our customer base really does treat our store sort of like a home away from home. It's just really good like touching base with them, and just seeing what they're happy with in terms of the range.
Pete: And then the other one would be the team as well. So, have they learned something new be about a product or a process in the store? And are they kind of feeling comfortable and happy at work as well?
Pete: My proudest moment working at Vintage Cellars has been building a really diverse team. We have an incredible group of people in my store and it's amazing coming to such a welcoming work environment every day.
Ronaldo: My favourite wine, The Steadings from Torbreck. So, it's a bit of a red blend, a little bit softer than a standard Shiraz, kind of juicier fruitier. It's my go-to at the moment for sure.
Pete: Well, my favourite product in-store at the moment is the champagne Jacquart. It's incredible, biscuity, good pastry notes, apples, it’s like drinking apple pie.
A piece of advice for someone considering joining the team at Vintage Cellars?
Ronaldo: Just have passion and be open to kind of learn about the products that we've got in-store When I'm interviewing, I will preface that you know I don't mind if you have never touched a drop of booze in your life. But be willing to kind of give things a go.
Pete: It's what you make of it. Having a strong level of enthusiasm and interest you'll go so far with the business.
